Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B to create a unique mix. From Broadway to European clubs and festivals, the singer has done work all over the world. Sunshine is the daughter of Denise White. While she is a resident of Atlanta but she is out of Chester Pennsylvania where she began her musical vocation by singing and playing the piano in church. She studied at Spellman College and began to master the R&B style that is popular in Atlanta. In 2005, she was the pianist in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer) offered her a position as choir conductor for Dreamgirls in Atlanta in the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national notice during the four shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
